Brief Description:

The Performing Arts Scholarship is for students from Sarasota and Manatee Counties who plan to participate in a distinct educational program focused on preparation for a professional career in the performing arts. While this scholarship is intended primarily for high school seniors, it may also be awarded to students regardless of age, accepted to first tier professional schools, including ballet schools, provided there is an academic component in addition to the performance arts component to the program. Graduate studies in a professional program are also acceptable.

Description:

The Performing Arts Scholarship is for students from Sarasota and Manatee Counties who plan to participate in a distinct educational program focused on preparation for a professional career in the performing arts. While this scholarship is intended primarily for high school seniors, it may also be awarded to students regardless of age, accepted to first tier professional schools, including ballet schools, provided there is an academic component in addition to the performance arts component to the program. Graduate studies in a professional program are also acceptable.

Scholarship recipients are selected on an objective and competitive basis. Applicants will be judged on demonstrated performance ability, commitment to a professional career, objectives and qualifications of the program, as well as financial need. Students must have a reasonable GPA to be awarded this scholarship.

Special Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must:
- Reside in Sarasota or Manatee Counties for at least one year, or either currently attend or be graduates of a high school in one of these two counties
- Plan to pursue a program of study and professional career in the performing arts
